• Yes it has a USB connection in the back. I’ve used a DVD player to play CD’s and I’ve also used a USB thumb drive to play songs off of it.

• Great question! The USB port on our JBL PartyBox 300 is mainly used for (1) connecting a USB storage device to play songs or (2) charging an external USB device so if your Sony mp3 player acts as a USB storage device, you should be able to connect it to the speaker.
