“Why don't they turn off when I return them to the case? They keep connecting to my phone when I'm trying to connect to my other bluetooth speakers even though they're in the case and are secure. I clean the case and buds before I put them.”

I have the same problem, sometimes not always. Normally I just go to my Bluetooth settings and turn them off and they do shut off. Whenever I go to use them again they automatically connect.
