• The one I installed is connected to the Internet. The is an initial setup, but after that I don't believe you have to be connected. I rarely use the app, not that it is good, I just connect to my vehicle for the charge rate. During the setup you can change the amount of current that will be drawn, charging times and more. In my situation I set those limits in the vehicle.
