I did not buy this unit for the DVD feature but was impressed when the salesman said it played movies. That said, I had to go out and try it when I received this question. It does play DVD''s directly on the unit. I slipped a movie into the slot and it started right up. So far, I've been very happy with this unit and would recommend it.
