Yes, you can add a photo to the back ground, but the clarity is terrible. Not worth it for custom backgrounds.

there are some pre loaded options in settings that you can use to change up the background . im not sure if you might be able to download wallpaper images from your phone onto the head unit that would be cool. hope this helps
