“The description states this has Bluetooth, but an answer says your phone has to be plugged in to use Apple CarPlay. What exactly does the Bluetooth feature on this unit do, since it won’t connect/allow CarPlay via a smart phone’s Bluetooth connection?”

The Bluetooth works with Android no issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Pretty much nothing. You can’t use maps on Bluetooth mode, I wish I had known before purchasing. I always have to have my phone plugged in to use what I need and now the device is having issues and randomly disconnecting my phone when I use it
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Bluetooth and Apple Carplay are two different features. Bluetooth alone will allow you pair your phone make your calls and stream your music wirelessly. Carplay is used by plugging in your phone via the USB and this feature allows you to use your maps off your phone, listen to any apps as well. The Carplay feature is displayed on the radio itself. It duplicates what's on your onto the screen. Again Bluetooth and Carplay are two different features.
