• The rubber earpiece swill help reduce ambient sound somewhat, like a foam earplug would. I doubt this product is expensive enough to include active noise canceling technology.

• They are ear buds so a bit of noise can be heard unless you push them deeper in you ear canal. Personally, I need to hear what's going on around me so I know how to balance the two. But yes if you push them a bit further, there is no noise.
