“These work great when paired with my tablet, but when paired with my desktop pc the pause button does not seem to work. Is there a way to fix this?”

Unfortunately, no. The reason is that Windows/Mac/Linux simply don't support this feature, even with wired headphones/earbuds. This feature usually only works with MP3 Players, Smartphones and most tablets.
