Yes, you are able to open the transparent casing at any time to ensure that all of your connections are secure. Hope this helps!

I found using 3-4 very tough guitar picks would work by forcing them into the seam at several points, and then start "wiggling" them in further while prying at any separation points that appear with another pick and/or (tough) finger nails. If you can get a corner pried open a bit, that makes it easier to work from there around the edges. The cover plastic flexes a bit, but don't get too forceful, or it may crack. I suggest that you not use metal tools, which would be more likely to crack/break the plastic, or even "slip" inside, and damage components on the inside circuit board.
