- Answer Brian, The knob on the front of the speaker can control sleep / wake, volume, and input selection. You get full functionality with the remote including tone controls and play controls but you can use the speakers without the remote. QuestionCan these be used with a powered receiver? I would like to connect to a receiver for 5.1 sound & use these speakers for the front left and front right, for movie watching. Then I would like to use the bluetooth function for music streaming. Both uses?
