It depends on the floor covering. If it stands on a hard solid surface, I don’t know why it couldn’t be used on the floor. Mine is on a wooden stand and has a 50” tv on it, at a low height. If your tv is larger, and the stand is extended to a tall height, it may not be stable on any surface. I would not put it on thick carpeting.
