To answer the first question, It won't work in a 3-way setup, as it is still a single pole switch. As for your second question, the switch has both motion and ambient light sensors, so it can be configured to only switch the light on when it is dark and there is motion, motion only, or manual only.

I doubt it can be used as a 3way switch, but I would love to find out. I put one in the laundry room. and one in the garage. The problem in the garage is, if i am working, the lights will go out. If I walk in through the garage door, the motion detection doesnt pick me up until I am close.
