“Is it important to have the device fully charged before use? I turned it on and there was some charge so I followed the directions to pair my device. However after those directions it says to not use the device until it has been fully charged.”

Yes just like a cell phone or any other rechargeable device, it is best to always fully charge your device and the battery all the way down and then fully recharge. That will give you the best longevity out of your devices battery and all keep it from building a charging memory. Also try not to leave your device on the charger while long lengthy play sessions. It can cause heating issues to your device and or battery. I hope this helps answer your question.
