does this gps work without cell access null

Without my Iphone 14 in the car, the Apple carplay will not light up. Thus, the GPS will not work. I discovered this when I left the i phone at home one day and tried to use the GPS without the phone being nearby. Whay adjusments in the setup do I need to make?

Garmin unit has it's own GPS antenna and connection so no cell service is required.

It has built-in Garmin navigation, so you never have to have cell access. All you do is click the navi button on the screen and you're good to go.
