Yes and no if you have it installed by a store then no they are required by law to install the unit with a parking brake switch (or sometimes that can get by with a park shift position switch) so the unit only plays video when the car is unable to move. But you can simply add a cheep manual switch to trick the unit into thinking it’s in park. Hopefully your asking because you have kids or other passengers who will be watching. Just make sure you pay attention to the road.
