To the Kenwood exper - I have an appointment with BB Car Installation on Jan. 11, 2020. I went there last weekend and the problem persisted in front of three technicians so hopefully they will just install a new unit that works. My phone works just fine in my 2018 Dodge Ram with Android Auto so I too think it is a faulty radio. Thanks for taking the time to answer.
