The "RECOMMENDED" air volume for a *VENTED/PORTED ENCLOSURE/BOX" is 1.5 cu.ft. I attached pics of the specs off the original box the subs are delivered in. Not sure if you or anyone still needs this info but I just purchased 2 of these subs wired to 2Ω and am running them in ported Qbomb QBSUV12-Vented box ($117 shipped) in my '03 Denali, I am powering them off a cheap 600w Dual XRP522 amp from advance auto for now ($80) with a old Kole Audio capacitor. The cap has a built in distortion detector that lets you know if your gain+cover are set correct but I still do all the math to verify my amp voltage output with DMM (FLUKE 179). I had the same box(but the older carpeted version) and same cap but with two JL 12w1v2-4 subs wired to 2Ω using a 600w Alpine v12 MRD-M605 amp and these kenwood subs actually perform very similar to the JL setup! (as good as one can tell by ear). Overall, after 2 hard days with this setup and these kenwoods subs I am super impressed with the performance and hope they continue to slam for at least 2yrs before they burn up lol (considering these subs only cost $52 shipped each, you can't go wrong!) Side note: I have been in the aerospace industry for 10yrs now building spacecraft but in 2005 I went to college for automotive and have the experience/knowledge needed to know what I doing and talking about. I hope this helps some one that is looking to bump on a budget!
