• You can use it either way but, it also depends how much wattage each channel supplies from your head unit. But you’re aiming for competition loud then I recommend you to use an amp to push these speakers or any speak you prefer.

• You can add an Amp, but you don't need one to use these speakers. Your stock ratio will do just fine.
