• When the carafe icon button is lit red, the warming plate is on and will remain on for two hours, even when using the single-serve (K-cup) brewer.

• Once you brew a carafe and it finishes, then you can go right to brewing a kcup. Why i like this machine, ease of use.

• Thank you for your question. The warming plate on the K-Duo coffee maker automatically turns on once a carafe brew is complete and remains on for 2 hours before shutting off. You do not need to flip any additional switches to keep the warming plate on after brewing a single cup. We hope this helps!
