• I also had the same thought as you! However been hesitant to do so as thought it might damage the mechanism.

• I do! I put the hot water in my mug to heat it up, then I pour the hot water into the brewer. No problem thus far!

• It takes no time to even make the coffee. Relax and be patient the coffee is extremely hot when it is done. I don't think 30 seconds is going to matter
