The unit is not exactly quiet, I think noise level is normal for an AC. So far works Ok. I am using it in an enclosed patio, so not too concern with noise. The duct is not insulated and it does get really hot. I covered the duct with a duct insulation sleeve to prevent the radiation of heat in the room. I bough the sleeve in Home Depot. Hope this helps.
