Do you need an amp or are they plug and play null

I didn't need an amp, just plug and play

These speakers are a plug and play speaker, that’s if you purchase the adequate harness needed for your vehicle. Although you might not get the best performance if you have a stock radio. I have a pair in my Malibu which has an small stock amp, and they sounded great. I wanted a bit more bass so i added a small kicker amp for these speakers, since I cannot fit subs in my Malibu hybrid. Once I added a kicker amp the bass was amazing! But I wanted a little bit more so I built a box to place from underneath on each speaker. My car system now sounds awesome and do not need any subwoofers. Now when I go for a ride with my friends they think I have a pair of 10” subs on the trunk. LOL.

No amp is needed if they take the place of door speakers

You can connect them to your stock setup, but you will get a much better and more refined sound if you go with an amp....assuming you don't already have an aftermarket head unit.
