• I believe it’s gain I run the gain on the amp at 3/4 and then adjust the knob to make each song sound good

• The remote control is for bass level. The amp bass can be turned all the way up or down, it will work either way.

• Controls bass level. And the second part of you question, doesn't matter you can have it all the way up or all the way down no distance. I have mine all the way up on amp
