- Answer We just purchased the KitchenAid panel ready trash compactor and it arrived three days ago. There was no handle included and the delivery men told me there was no mistake, they always come with no handle!!! When there has been a change in what is included in the box, this change needs to be told to prospective purchasers. Very disappointing.

- Answer WE INSTALLED IT WHEN WE REMODELED OUR KITCHEN IN 2012. SO WE HAD A SPOT DESIGNED FOR IT. THEY ARE ALL A STANDARD SIZE. THIS IS OUR SECOND ONE AND IS SUPERIOR TO THE FIRST ONE WE BOUGHT. THE KITCHENAID FIT IN THE SAME SPOT AS THE OTHER BRAND AND MODEL. YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A CABINET MAKER MAKE A SPOT FOR IT IN AN EXISTING CABINET WITHOUT AN OPENING.

QuestionWill the bottom provide clearance for a persian rug when it is pulled out? i.e. what is the clearance dimension from the floor to bottom sweep?

- Answer Hello Robinuska, the KTTS505ESS has a foot pedal to open the compactor, this will open the drawer located just above the foot pedal. Here is a link with the dimension information. We hope this helps.

QuestionI just noticed that the side interior walls of the compactor cabinet are cardboard? My last KitchenAid compactor had aluminum/metal like the rest of the unit making it possible and easy to clean. Why are they cardboard?

- Answer Definitely cardboard and nothing under when lifted except the inner parts (electrical etc). This is 3rd KitchenAid compactor I’ve owned over the years and walls have always been aluminum. I looked online and indeed the cardboard side panel is a part. Really unbelievable.
