“There are black brackets/hardware on top and bottom of door that look like they are for mounting to under the counter top. They stick out far and I would like to remove them. They are also not pictured in the description. Are these removable?”

Yes. On the inside door there is a QR code that will take you multiple YouTube instructional videos. The installation video goes over how to remove the black clips
