Hello! If you are not going to use water/ice, you do not need to have water connected. Thank you for your inquiry on our KitchenAid appliances.

It works great no issues at all not sure how it would work if it didn’t have pressure from the pressure tank. Hope this helps it really is a very nice refrigerator.
