QuestionWhat is the difference between the monochromatic and the stainless-steel? Does it look different than the other kitchen aid appliances? ( KRSC503ess) 2429.99

- Answer Need to revise my earlier answer because I just had Kitchenaid regular stainless steel dishwasher and double wall oven installed. While the monochromatic does smudge, it is very easy to clean and I only need to do it every 3 weeks or even longer. It is less shiny than their regular and in my opinion better looking in this regard, more of a refined brushed stainless steel look. I prefer it aesthetically. The regular stainless steel not only smudges easier, it is hard to clean and not leave a bigger mark with the cleaner. I am happy aesthetically with mixing and matching the two within the same kitchen. My refrigerator doesn't share a wall with my other appliances but no one would notice they aren't the same visually. The shine is subtle and if anyone noticed would just think the lights hitting them differently in different areas. It struck me when they were installed but I don't notice now, what I notice is how much cleaner my fridge always is!

QuestionAre the sides of the refrigerator stainless steel? If not what color are sides?

- Answer No, only the first couple inches on the side, which is the side of the door. The rest is like a gray plastic material. My refrigerator sticks out from my cabinetry quite a bit. While this bothers me because I would prefer a more built in, clean look, the look of the gray side will never bother me. I don't think anyone else would even notice or give it a second thought.

- Answer Not really. I think it's supposed to be, and although it doesn't show the finger smudges as bad as some other stainless steel appliances do, they are definitely still visible.

QuestionI know the door height is 71 1/2" but what is the height of the cabin or the back that goes into the space? I have a 70" clearance.

- Answer The very top of the door height, just the first 1/4", is 71 1/8" and the rest of the door including cabinet is 70 3/4". I understand your dilemma of only having a 70" clearance. You might be able to trim the bottom of your upper cabinet. We had to remove ours. Much to our surprise the refrigerator looks so attractive we don't even miss the upper cabinet and will not replace it.

QuestionMy old fridge is a counter depth with 20.0 capacity. This is a little bigger and I'm hoping it will fit. Anyone else gone from a 20.0 to this size ?

- Answer We went from a Whirlpool 20.0 cf side by side to this KitchenAid model and it fits perfectly. Our opening has a height of 71 3/4 inch, and this just fits in with about 1/4 inch clearance that will allow cabinet above to open. Last fridge was about 3 1/2 inches shorter and may be reason for extra cf. No problem with width and depth, as it was similar dimensions to old fridge. Would say if your opening is 40" wide and 27" to 29" deep, then should be fine. But double check measurements to make sure it will fit.

- Answer It does not come with a trim kit, however with cabinetry around it it would surly look like a built-in. It is regular stainless steel. There is no extra reservoir for ice.
