Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Our previous Kitchen Aid never had a problem. The new dishwasher is only a few days old. We purchased the 5 year warranty out of fear of the future. Multiple persons have told us that the appliance manufacturers have designed appliances to last up to 8 years. Since the cost for one service call is almost as much as the 5 year warranty we felt the insurance was somewhat justified. We will see how it works in 5 years. Not related to our Kitchen Aid but based on a Maytag dryer we purchased 3 years ago with a 5 year warranty that warranty was well worth the purchase. The dryer has had five instances of repair. It took three instances before they resolved the problem of the dryer blowing the circuit breaker. Our previous Maytag dryer (12+ years old) never had a problem. I think the reliability of all the appliances is better than some of the units in the past but there is always that one exception and you may get the one with the exception.
