“Can I use a round knob(about 2" did) that will match the rest of my kitchen cabinets as handle to open the dishwasher or does it have to be a bar handle?”

You can use any knob ! You countersink the screw in the back. Look up the video on YouTube of the installation, but don’t trust the paper guide for you screw location. My was a little off , thank goodness a check the hole in the dishwasher. You need to be precise in the location of the screws.
