Hello! This model Dishwasher dry via a phenomenon called condensate dry. No dishwasher actually requires a vent. BUT depending on the tub and other technology designed on the unit, some dishwashers have been designed with vents to ENHANCE the drying performance. There may be some steam released when opening the door, but we do offer moisture barrier strips that can be placed underneath the counter tops to protect them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it doesn't have side vents.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it looks like there are vents on the left side of the front door. they are just outside of the cabinet so they are not going to vent under or into the cabinets. I havent see steam coming out, I have had mine for two cycles and ran the at night while I was not in the kitchen. I'll have to see it when it goes to drying to see if steam does vent there. but the nature of the vent slots suggests this is it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same question. I had assumed the steam vent would be on the front of the door to one side, like my current ancient Kitchenaid (which I love, for at least 22 years!). But then I read online somewhere that indeed the vent is toward the bottom of the door, on the side. I am having the same thought as you, that it would be disaster having moist heat emanating right against wood cabinetry. However I think its the same for all the new KA DWs, and I wouldn't buy another brand, as we've only had two dishwashers in 46 years, both Kitchenaid. Of course my DH will FIX THINGS TO DEATH, so that might have a little to do with their longevity. The only thing I can think of that I might try, and only if I notice moisture on the adjacent cabinets during the cycle, is to run a table fan on low, just to possibly keep air circulating and moisture from standing and causing trouble. Maybe not much of a helpful answer, but at least we can commiserate. Maybe the KITCHENAID COMPANY will see our question and comment with a solution.
