“Can the controls on top of the door be programmed while the door is open, or only while door is closed? The lip on our counter top will prevent us from getting to the controls when the door is closed so want to ensure that is not a problem.”

• Murdoch, yes you would choose your cycle, options, and press start while the door is open. When you close the door, the cycle will begin.
