we only run every two days on average,we use seventh generation detergent new machine smell first couple times ,all gone now another thing we do is run it when we go to bed and unload cool dishes etc.in the am. course we are on our third kitchenaid.

And using it every day helps "clean it out " from what i see and have heard. Ours smells after a day off. IF you're stuck with it, try putting a small glass of vinegar in the tray Upright so the vinegar gets splashed out slowly and helps sanitize it. I tried that and it seems to help a bit, and white vinegar is cheap at least. The filter smells even with a tiny bit of stuff in it too I think.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, there is no smell. The stainless steel tub is the key to keeping the unit sanitized. As well as it being equipped with a large food grinder for drainage of all debris.
