“What does product height mean? Is it from the bottom of the unit to the top of the blower motor? In this case 28 7/8 inches? And how high above the top does the wall exhaust hole need to be for proper installation. I don’t see that in your manual.”

Hello Frank, The product height is from the bottom of the unit to the top of the blower motor. The range hood chimneys are adjustable and designed to meet varying ceiling or soffit heights depending on the distance.
