That's the nice part about these speakers is that the subwoofer has it's own amp.So your computer is only supplying the sound source not the amplification of the sound
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That would be doubtful they are too powerful for your lap top if I understand the question correctly. The audio comes out of your pc to the Klipsch Promedia at which point it does it's magic.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They are powerful speakers. I'd say they compare to home theatre speakers. But if you want less powerful speakers, I would recommend finding ones with lower wattage. However, you should be able to adjust the volume to an appropriate level for listening.

Obviously, they are 'wall' powered. While usually attached to my computer, sometimes I plug my crummy little mp3 into my Klipsch M/P 2.1's and the sound is great. Email Dell tech support to ask if they have any concerns about using powered speakers through your headphone jack. Use the line level output instead of the headphone jack if your laptop has one. Otherwise, never raise the computer volume level higher than comfortable listening volume through the built in speakers and then always use the Klipsch volume control from there. Check for cord damage, try them on something else, hope for a run of bad luck ended with the third computer. Best luck to you.
