• No, it has an amplifier built in and with the Bass and Volume controls you can adjust the sound for any environment.

• The preamp is built into the desktop speaker. There is a 3.5mm plug to go to the computer or a phone/mic jack on speaker for input to system. Sounds as good at home as it does in store.

• No, you will not need a pre-amp. The pre-amp cord connects to the subwoofer from the control speaker, so I believe that it has a built-in pre-amp.
