These are passive speakers. If you have a receiver that has an amp with speaker out's - yes these will work. If you can connect a wire to the receiver and have that receiver power the speaker with wattage - yes this speaker will work. The age of the receiver does not matter - this is analog technology, not digital. There are no "compatability" concerns between speakers and receivers unless you get into 4 Ohm versus 8 Ohm speakers and the wattage ratings the amps are able to produce, etc. Howerver, at the end of the day, if you have the means to connect a + and - wire to the receiver and a + and = on the speaker - done. It should work.
