Yes, Press the mute button on the soundbar until it flashes. Press volume - button once on the soundbar then volume down button on Direct TV remote 4 times. Repeat the same steps pressing the volume + button.
did you ever get an answer? we haven't been able to program ours to control volume either and we have Directv as well. I called them and we tried a few things then they said if we purchased their super remote (not sure I have the right name lol) it could be programmed, just not with the regular remote.
