To be used on that Denon, you should connect them to the "Height" speaker connection to use in an up-firing position. These speakers are designed to be used as supplemental speakers sitting on top of fronts or rears in a Dolby Atmos configuration that creates the spacious "sound bubble" impression that results from bouncing sound off of the ceiling. In a non-Dolby Atmos system they can be wall or ceiling mounted high in a variety of surround configurations.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not a pro at this by any means. I will say this. I had the same issue when I first connected my speakers. TBH I don't know anything about your specific receiver. I do know this though, cookie-cutter settings lean more toward suggestions as opposed to gospel. I lowered all my settings to the bare minimum. I then brought them up a few notches at a time, I started tweaking each speaker to my specifications. What it is I wanted from them. This trial and error worked in my specific case. Remember, what sounds good to me might be way off what you are looking for. So, your system needs to be set where the sound makes you happiest. The first thing I did was toss the manufactures suggestions. Not because they are useless rather, I recognize the manufacturer has expensive testing areas they use. Those areas are made to order for them to extract the highest quality sound for the speakers tested. Think about that. Many of us don't have that luxury of choice. We tend to use what we have. The test room may have drapes, carpet, sound-absorbing walls or panels, maybe no windows for sound to glance off, low ceilings. All things that play a role in producing good quality sound. I don't know your room. You could be dealing with bare floors, drywall, curtains instead of drapes, neither, etc. I would start with my settings first and try to draw out the best sound. Then move to other areas if that doesn't produce what you desire. Hope this offers some things to check. If all else fails, contact a specialist at Best Buy and see what they suggest.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine are placed 4 feet off the floor in a carpeted room facing diagonally outward from the corners approximately 5 feet from the ceiling. I enjoy both good front presence with music as well as solid effects from movie action scenes. You will have to make adjustments to your signal processing to balance them with your main and other speakers.
