this is gen 1. I spoke with manufacturer August 2016 and they said gen 2 was not available for purchase yet but should be coming out sometime later this year.

It is the first generation and all the reviews I've read say the second generation is better. It's okay as I said in my review but I would go for the second generation at least if you're playing to buy this.

Model # 925 KEVO DB 15 Kevo 2nd generation was released on 8/30/2016 at a list price of $229. Model # 925 KEVO2 DB 15 At present (mid-December 2016) Kevo 2 is available in only a few stores and this isn't one of them. If you go to the Kwikset website, you can see a comparison of the features. From that and from what I've read elsewhere, the second generation is far superior. I'll be getting the Kevo 2 after the Christmas shopping season and after the old stock is gone, when I'm expecting the price to drop at least a little.
