Holding area fits a 14 inch laptop with approximately <1 inch to spare on each side. The stuffing easily molds to its support (lower extremities or flat surface). The mouse pad appears to be single layer of a felt type material. I imagine it will wear like most after excessive daily use. I personally love the details of the product such as the small compartments & adjustable features.
