“I have an ethernet cable from my router to my old computer. To down load the laplink ultimate (with connecting cable) software and transfer data do I need an ethernet cable to my new computer as well or will the connecting cable be all that is required?”

Wifi is the default method of connection. You can use an Ethernet to USB adapter to connect both machines, port to port.

Please try again later.laplink supplies a ethernet cable to connect your old computer to the new computer, but both computers must have ethernet ports otherwise you will have to buy an ethernet to USB adapter.( don't buy the laplink USB cable as it is more than the software
