The case does lay flat although the magnets aren't strong enough to keep it closed. It will flip open with slight force.

A wrap that extends over the edges of the phone may not work if it's thicker than a mylar protector sheet. I knocked the edge of mine loose (it peeled back) when I re-installed the phone into this case. :-(
