Hello thank you for your inquiry. Model #LAC90 is not a powerful enough power adapter for your particular device. Model #LAC120 is the power adapter you need. FYI the compatible adapter tip for Dell Studio 1440 will be the L61D tip. If you have any further questions, please let us know. Thank you!
