However, there is really no proper testing to ensure that the manufacturer's are doing their testing accurately. I have both the Lenmar and Canon batteries, and the Lenmar is awful in terms of battery life. I get maybe 1/3 to 1/4 of the life versus the Canon battery that came with the camera. So, don't believe the numbers alone.

The higher mAh will hold more energy for each cycle. With a higher mAh your device will run longer per each charge, all while the total lifespan of the batteries remain unaffected.
