This laptop has 4 GB soldered on the board and a single DIMM slot. That slot contains a 4 GB DiMM. Therefore when you buy this in store it comes with 8 GB. The issue I have is that the Best Buy says its expandable to 16 GB. The so called Lenovo experts commenting on these posts say 16 GB BUT if you go read the Service documentation it says the max memory supported is 8 GB. I am not happy to have just purchased this after being told it can hold 16 GB and now the service documentation says 8 GB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.thanks for the answer, but lenovo site states 16 max and that the ram is soldered. obviously if 4 is soldered with two banks that is not correct. Is it maybe 8 soldered and one empty?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is 1 4gb ddr4 that is soldered, and the other is in a slot that can be upgraded to 8gb, 16gb stick even a 32gb stick when they decide to make them. According to the Lenovo companion app on this laptop max ram is 64gb, but with 1 4gb soldered, the most you could get if they ever make a 32gb stick is 36gb total, for now you can max it at 20gb by putting in a 16gb ddr4 stick.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. The reason for the conflicting answers is because the answer is "both". There is 4GB of RAM "onboard" the motherboard (soldered), but there is also a RAM slot on the device as well. The maximum RAM this system can support is 16GB. A certified technician can add more RAM to this system.
