hopefully you can see this image this is from Lenovo companion, it shows exactly what amount of ram the laptop can support, I have this laptop and it does support a 16gb in the slot I have tested it with a friends ram. since I cant at the moment afford a 16gb chip myself I wanted to be sure it would before I do buy one when I can. as ive stated before I'm not sure this Lenovo expert knows their products very well. maybe try saving the image and zooming in on it if needed.

This model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. There is 4GB onboard, soldered. There is one open slot and the maximum RAM is 16GB that the motherboard can support. Obviously, the realistic maximum has to be 12GB, because there is no 12GB RAM card available.
