Please look at screen grab from Lenovo companion this is upgradable to a 32gb ddr4 chip in the one user slot. This Lenovo expert is a little wonkers and doesn't seem to know their products very well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This laptop has 4 GB soldered on the board and a single DIMM slot. That slot contains a 4 GB DiMM. Therefore when you buy this in store it comes with 8 GB. The issue I have is that the Best Buy web site says its expandable to 16 GB. The so called Lenovo experts commenting on these posts say 16 GB but if you go read the Service documentation it says the max memory supported is 8 GB. I am not happy to have just purchased this after being told it can hold 16 GB and now the service documentation says 8 GB.

Please try again later.yes you can add memory, by removing the bottom panel of the laptop, easy for a user to do, they have instructions on the Lenovo support site to do this, and you can add a 16gb ddr4 chip in place of the 4gb ddr4 chip or if you spend enough you can get a 32gb ddr4 chip and add it for max on the slot.

The maximum increase is to swap out the 4g for an 8g (highest supported) for a total of 12g. I wasn't happy about this either as I asked the sales person, Geek squad and chatted with Best Buys Experts BEFORE purchase. Their solution? Take it back.
