“I have a canon printer that i use with my current laptop. Will i be able to use that printer with this laptop? My concern is because there is no cd/dvd drive and the installation of the printer software is on a disk.”

You should be able to download the printer driver software directly from the internet. Check the manufacturer website for downloads and compatibility.
