Yes. Windows Defender is an anti-virus software program. It does everything I need it to do without impacting computer performance in any way like other programs can do since it is integrated right into Windows. I haven't used any other Anti-virus/Anti Spyware software since Windows Defender was introduced, and I have never had any problems of any kind. It has caught things that needed catching when they needed catching, and it works on demand as needed to scan items as needed prior to opening them or installing them. As far as spam and phishing are concerned, the email programs I use already have built in features that usually catch those things for the most part. You just have to be cautious and look for the normal warning signs of anything that might look suspicious.
