Yes, it is up-gradable past 4GB. There are only 2 RAM sockets so two 16GB DDR4 DIMMs (32GB) is the max supported memory (RAM). 8GB or 16GB is typically enough for the average user. This board uses the H110 Express chipset, so unless you are certain you need faster RAM (2666 MHz max... I believe), I recommend using 2133 MHz (2133 us the minimum frequency DDR4 and typically the lowest price).
